Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Shafer Trail, Canyonlands National Park, UT

Your tour begins in the town of Moab where you’ll meet your professional guide, who will help you get comfortably situated inside of the off-road, 4x4 vehicle. Enjoy the 30-mile (48km) drive from Moab to Canyonlands National Park, where you’ll explore the popular Island in the Sky District with its spectacular desert scenery.

Start off atop a mesa with views looking out over the horizon before your guide deftly maneuvers the switchbacks of Shafer Trail. On this section of the 100-mile (161-km) White Rim Road Loop, you’ll make stops with very photographic vistas of the Colorado River and the view from Thelma and Louise Point.

In addition to the popular lookouts, your expert guide will take you to spots that aren’t as frequently visited, where you’ll find everything from ancient Pueblo rock art to vertical views down the canyons. You’ll learn the history of the Pueblo people who inhabited the Four Corners area, and aside from the culture and history lessons, your guide will also explain the geology of the red rock canyons before you.

When you stop for a break to take photos, venture out on one of the short trails that leave from many of the viewpoints; you’ll get a different perspective and angle for photographing the canyons.

When this Canyonlands tour from Moab is over, your guide will return you to the town of Moab to the spot where the tour began.
**For the safety and comfort of all our National Park Backcountry Jeep tour guests, if the seat belt cannot be safely fastened, then this issue will need to be taken care of before the date of your tour. Our jeep tours are operated in 4-door Jeep Wranglers, and hold a max of 4 passengers, plus one of Adrift’s well trained, and knowledge guides as the driver. Would heartily recommend this Jeep tour that included Canyonlands National Park. Our guide Jim was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. The tour was a perfect combination of riding in the Jeep and being able to get out and walk around. So much history...ranging from 1200 years ago (and older!) to Thelma and Louise and Mission Impossible 2. A great 4 hours; we saw parts of Dead Horse State Park and Canyonlands that would have otherwise been inaccessible to us. We went with couples but this tour would be suitable for families as well. Excellent tour!

I was a solo traveler in a brand-new vehicle with three strangers and Mark, our exceptional tour guide. By the end of the magical experience, everyone was my friend and we'd traversed unimaginable landscapes. I would recommend Adrift and Mark to anyone. I'd also go back to Moab and try some of their other tours too. For anyone looking to explore and learn, this is the organization to go with.

We had a wonderful half day tour through the canyon lands and our ranger/guide was Mark Trunzo. He was excellent and we would thoroughly recommend him for his knowledge, professionalism, interesting stories and is great company as well. The Jeep was brand new this year so you can be totally confident that the vehicle is in excellent condition as it has to navigate some steep roads.

I wanted to leave a review for Mark Trunzo because of the professional and fantastic treatment he gave me, my wife and my sister-in-law. We wet out on an all day adventure on Veterans day 2021 and had the nice surprise of no fees at the two national parks we visited. Canyonlands and Arches full day trip. The travel in the excellently maintained, very clean vehicles was a trip to remember for life. Mark was a gentleman with the two ladies and drove excellently to get us the most vista's on a beautiful weather day. If you get a chance to go on a tour and Mark is available, please do not pass up the chance. THANK YOU MARK and Adrift adventures. Mel, Cathy and Helene

My wife and I visited Moab in July. We did the morning Jeep tour to Canyonlands. The scenery was amazing. The ride is very rough at times. Jim was a great guide. The coolest part of the tour was the small plane that flew through the canyon. Jim said he had never seen a plane flying through the canyon. Despite the rough ride, a must do if you’re in Moab.

Jim Schreck is the ultimate guide when it comes to the Canyonlands! His knowledge of its history, culture, and geology is immense. His stories and research added so much to the experience. And his attention to details makes everything that much more interesting. For example, when we stopped at where they shot the Thelma and Louise scenes, he showed us the adjustments they made to fit the script and why they had to do two takes. He was also patient with our fear of heights, helping us get the right photos to share with friends.

We expected a great trip and got an awesome adventure. We had already visited Arches and Canyonlands on our own so we had tons of questions and our guide, Mark, filled in all the details. He showed us arches and rock formations we could never see on our own. At our request, the company changed our travel date at the last minute and are clearly customer oriented and professional. Even the lunch was exceptional at a local restaurant opened just for Adrift customers. The best part of the trip was our guide. He made our needs and desires his priority and was so gracious and funny to boot. Lastly he took lots of photos of us with incredible views. Thank you Mark!!

One of my favorite days of my recent 2 week trip to the SW! Very knowledgeable and personable guide, Jim...6 hour Jeep tour flew by. Got to see the beautiful back roads in a safe & very clean environment. We felt very taken care of!

We did two Jeep tours with Adrift to Arches N.P and Canyonland N.P. and were NOT disappointed as we would have never seen the incredible awesomeness (a lot fewer people) in the backcountry! They drive late model, fully equipped Jeeps that can easily handle the tough terrain. We had a family emergency come up and the office staff worked to slot us into a spot – thanks Keri! And then there was our guide Jim who was obviously a teacher and a student who seemed to know something about everything - history, storytelling, biology, geology, ecology, botany, archaeology, chemistry, etc. His knowledge made the trip a lot more fun. Would highly recommend Adrift.
